Laureen Brooks Obituary, CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Laureen Brooks, 31, of Chesapeake, Virginia, has died after being fatally shot inside a residence on Holly Cove Drive on Thursday night, September 24, 2026. Chesapeake police identified Brooks as the woman found deceased at the home.
According to the Chesapeake Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of Holly Cove Drive at approximately 7:58 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic assault in progress. Officers arrived at the scene and entered the home as they responded to the reported incident.
Inside the residence, police discovered an adult woman deceased in a bathroom. Authorities said the woman had sustained gunshot wounds, and she was later identified as Brooks. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators said the suspected shooter was no longer at the residence when officers arrived and remains sought. Police have not released the suspect’s identity or provided additional information about the circumstances that may have preceded the shooting.
Three children were also present inside the residence during the incident. Police said the children were later placed in the care of local family members. No additional information about the children has been released.
