Edward Powers Obituary, MEDFIELD, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police Trooper Edward Powers has died following a courageous battle with cancer, according to information shared by the Medfield Police Department. Powers was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Medfield.
Funeral services for Powers are scheduled for Friday, August 21, with law enforcement officers from across the Commonwealth expected to attend. The services will bring together members of the Massachusetts State Police and other law enforcement agencies to honor Powers and support his family, friends and fellow officers.
The Medfield Police Department said residents and motorists should expect an increased police presence in and around Medfield during the services. Police vehicles, motorcycles and uniformed personnel are expected to be visible throughout the area as officers gather to pay their respects to the fallen trooper.
Officials also warned of possible temporary traffic delays, particularly around the funeral procession and Vine Lake Cemetery. Motorists traveling through the area are being asked to plan accordingly and allow additional time for their journeys.
