Synquavia Staples Obituary: Huntsville, Alabama – Young Couple Remembered After Murder-Suicide

Synquavia Staples Obituary, HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Synquavia Keyona Staples, 22, of Roanoke, Alabama, and Jordan Darnell West, 21, of Huntsville, have died following a murder-suicide inside their apartment at the Laurel at Dry Creek apartment complex.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the residence in the 300 block of Johns Road at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday, September 27, after receiving information that two people inside the apartment might be deceased. When officers arrived, they found Staples and West inside the residence, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Huntsville Police Department Major Crimes Unit investigators responded to the apartment and processed the residence as part of the death investigation. HPD spokesperson Christopher Jackson said investigators found no evidence that anyone outside the two individuals was involved in the deaths.

Police subsequently confirmed that the incident was a murder-suicide. The department has not indicated that there is any continuing threat to the public connected to the deaths.

Staples, who was affectionately known as “Keke,” was a nursing student with a promising future in healthcare. In August, she received her white coat during the Jacksonville State University School of Nursing GOLD-AACN White Coat Ceremony, marking an important milestone in her education and her pursuit of a career caring for others.

West was 21 years old and was identified by police as a Huntsville resident. The deaths have left family members, friends and others who knew the couple grieving the loss of two young lives.

As the investigation continues, the families and friends of Synquavia “Keke” Staples and Jordan Darnell West are mourning their deaths and remembering the lives they shared with those around them. Their memories will remain with the people who knew them, and condolences go out to their loved ones during this difficult time.
