Erin Piacenti Obituary, NEW YORK, N.Y. — Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey, has died after being fatally stabbed during an unprovoked attack in Times Square on Monday afternoon.
Piacenti was attacked near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m., according to information attributed to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. She was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen during the violent incident and was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died.
According to reports, Piacenti was a vice president at Bank of America, serving in the Business Selection and Conflicts division in New York City. The company described her as a valued teammate and expressed condolences to her family and loved ones following her death.
Piacenti had established an accomplished educational and professional background. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and later earned her law degree from Fordham Law School in 2021. She was reportedly building a successful career at Bank of America.
Her death came only weeks after she and her husband, Frank, celebrated their second wedding anniversary on August 10. Tributes shared following her death described Piacenti as a beloved wife, daughter and friend whose life and career were still unfolding.
The attack began when a 68-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen after emerging from a subway station on West 41st Street. Police said the same suspect then continued toward 42nd Street, where Piacenti was fatally attacked. The male victim was reportedly transported for medical treatment and was expected to survive.
Police identified the suspect as Pamela Cisneros, 49. According to authorities, officers confronted Cisneros after the attacks and attempted to stop her before she allegedly advanced toward them while armed with knives. Officers ultimately shot her, and she later died at a hospital. Police have described the attack as unprovoked.
