Elida Shelton, Carlos Shelton and Brian Shelton Obituary, FLOWER MOUND, Texas — Elida Shelton, 63; Brian Shelton, 27; and Carlos Shelton, 65, have died in a tragic incident at a Flower Mound residence that authorities are investigating as an apparent double homicide-suicide.
Flower Mound police officers were dispatched at approximately 10:43 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the 10700 block of Sunrise Circle for a welfare check. The request came after two residents failed to report to work and family members were unable to reach them.
Upon entering the residence, officers discovered three deceased individuals. Authorities later identified them as members of the same family: Elida Shelton, Brian Shelton, and Carlos Shelton.
According to findings from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, Elida Shelton and Brian Shelton were identified as homicide victims. Both died from gunshot wounds to the head. The medical examiner determined that Carlos Shelton died by suicide.
Flower Mound Deputy Chief Henry Lucio told WFAA that authorities believe the incident was isolated and that there was no ongoing threat to residents of Flower Mound or the surrounding area. Police have not publicly released additional details concerning a motive or the events leading up to the deaths.
The discovery has left relatives, friends, coworkers, and community members mourning the loss of the three family members. A concern over missed work and unanswered calls ultimately led to the discovery of a devastating situation that has deeply affected those connected to the family.
Although some digital maps list the residence with an Argyle mailing address, officials confirmed that the property is located within the municipal boundaries of Flower Mound. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the deaths as they work to establish the full timeline of the incident.
The Flower Mound Police Department is asking anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact its tip line at (972) 874-3307.
