Amanda Marissa McCauley Obituary, SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Amanda Marissa McCauley, 42, of Sioux City, died following a fatal shooting at a residence on Douglas Street on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Her death has left her family and community mourning the loss of a mother whose life was deeply connected to her children.
Sioux City police officers were dispatched at approximately 8:15 a.m. to a residence in the 3100 block of Douglas Street, near Grandview Park, after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two women and one man suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.
Police later identified Amanda as one of the three people who died. The other victims were her mother, Yolanda Guerra Koon, 76, and her husband, Andrew McCauley, 42. According to the preliminary investigation, police determined that Andrew shot and killed Amanda and Yolanda before turning the gun on himself.
Amanda was a mother of two children, including a 13-year-old, according to information provided by people close to the family. Friends remembered her as a devoted mother who loved her children deeply and made them an important part of her life.
People close to Amanda also said she had taken steps toward ending her marriage before the shooting. Those accounts have not been presented by police as an established motive, and authorities have not released additional details about what led to the deaths.

The Crittenton Center in Sioux City has announced that it is assisting Amanda’s children and accepting donations toward funeral expenses and their ongoing care. The organization said donations can be made through its Venmo account, @CrittGives, and that a GoFundMe campaign will not be established.
