Amir Rahmon Gracy Obituary, AKRON, Ohio — Amir Rahmon Gracy, 25, of Akron, Ohio, died early Monday morning, September 28, after being fatally shot while sitting inside a vehicle at a residence in the 1000 block of Ray Street, according to the Akron Police Department and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Gracy was 25 years old at the time of his death. According to Akron police, the shooting occurred during the early morning hours when an unknown suspect fired at the vehicle, striking Gracy multiple times. Other people were reportedly inside the vehicle when the shooting occurred.
Akron Police Lt. Michael Murphy said Gracy suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and upper body. Officers responded to the residence and began providing emergency medical treatment before paramedics arrived, applying a chest seal and tourniquet to his injuries.
Akron Fire Department paramedics later arrived at the scene and transported Gracy to Summa Health for further treatment. Despite the emergency medical efforts, he died from his injuries at approximately 2:45 a.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following the shooting, detectives recovered several shell casings at the scene and canvassed the surrounding neighborhood. Investigators went door to door seeking witnesses and available surveillance footage that could help establish what happened and identify the person responsible.
The suspect remains unidentified, and no arrest has been announced. The Akron Police Department and Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Gracy’s death.
