Ashtain Noel Davis Obituary, RICHMOND, Va. — Ashtain Noel Davis, 28, a Henrico County firefighter and recent graduate of Recruit Academy 86, has died after being struck in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Richmond late Friday night.
Davis was operating a 2025 Harley-Davidson FLTRX motorcycle when it was struck by a dark-colored SUV on the ramp connecting westbound Interstate 64 to southbound Interstate 95, according to Virginia State Police. The crash occurred between approximately 11:20 p.m. and 11:27 p.m. Friday.
The collision threw Davis from the motorcycle and caused fatal injuries. Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Despite emergency response efforts, Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Henrico Division of Fire confirmed Davis was among its newest firefighters. He joined the fire service in 2025 after previously serving in the military and working in armed security. He completed his firefighter training in July and had recently begun serving the residents of Henrico County.
Henrico Fire Chief Doug Clevert expressed support for Davis’ family and honored his commitment to public service. The department said it was mourning the unexpected loss of one of its newest members and standing with those affected by his death.
Virginia State Police said the driver of the SUV fled the scene following the collision and remains unidentified. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been a dark blue or black Jeep Cherokee or Jeep Compass manufactured between 2014 and 2019. The vehicle may have sustained minor front- and rear-end damage and could be missing a side mirror.
Davis’ death has brought grief to his fellow firefighters, first responders, friends, family members, and others who knew him. His path from military service and armed security work into firefighting reflected a continued commitment to serving and assisting others.
The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify the driver involved in the hit-and-run. Virginia State Police are asking anyone with information about the crash or the suspect vehicle to come forward. For those who knew and served alongside Davis, his memory will remain connected to his commitment to public service and the community he had only recently begun serving. Condolences remain with his family, friends, colleagues, and fellow first responders as they remember Ashtain Noel Davis.
