Cunningham was a 27-year veteran of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, beginning his career with the Wildlife Resources Division in August 1999. His long tenure with the department reflected decades of service to Georgia’s natural resources and the communities he worked to protect.
In December 2006, Cunningham transferred to the DNR Law Enforcement Division, where he continued his career as a Game Warden. He was promoted to Corporal in 2017 and later advanced to the rank of Sergeant in March 2021.
Most recently, Cunningham served as a Sergeant in Region I in northwest Georgia. In that role, he supervised Game Wardens responsible for Walker, Dade, Chattooga and Floyd counties.
The Georgia DNR described Cunningham as an outstanding Game Warden and supervisor within the Law Enforcement Division. His responsibilities placed him in a leadership role overseeing wardens serving several northwest Georgia communities.
