ABC7 Bay Area reported that multiple people were reportedly shot in a neighborhood near UC Berkeley. The available reporting connects the incident to the hills area around the Berkeley campus, although the exact location has not been independently confirmed as Panoramic Hill.
Emergency personnel responded to the area following reports of multiple people being shot. At the time of the available reporting, information about the victims, including their identities, conditions and the total number of people injured, remained limited.
Law enforcement officers were also responding as emergency crews worked at the scene. Police activity may continue while investigators secure the area, gather evidence and establish what happened.
Reports describing the incident as an active-shooter situation have not been independently confirmed by the available information. The confirmed reporting establishes a shooting response, but it does not establish whether an active shooter remained at large.
Because the reported incident occurred near UC Berkeley, members of the campus community and nearby residents may be monitoring developments. UC Berkeley advises the campus community to rely on official WarnMe alerts, the UC Berkeley Safety App and university emergency information for guidance during emergencies.
Investigators are expected to establish additional details, including the precise location of the shooting, the conditions of those reportedly injured, whether anyone has been detained and whether authorities believe there is any continuing threat.
The investigation remains ongoing. Residents and others in the area should follow instructions from law enforcement and university officials, avoid approaching emergency scenes and rely on verified official updates as more information becomes available.
