Brennen Saele Obituary, LINCOLN-WAY, Ill. — Brennen Saele, 17, has died suddenly, leaving his family, friends, classmates and the broader Lincoln-Way community mourning a young life remembered for his kindness, enthusiasm, strong work ethic and memorable smile. His death was reported as occurring Saturday.
Those who knew Brennen have shared tributes describing him as someone who brought happiness to the people around him. One tribute remembered him for his kindness, strong work ethic, enthusiasm, beautiful smile and unforgettable presence, while describing him as a positive example to those who knew him.
Friends of the Saele family have also reflected on Brennen’s life and the connections he formed from a young age. Nicole Diane shared that she remembered holding Brennen when he was a newborn and recalled that he and his younger brother were among her children’s first friends during childhood play dates at parks and the zoo.
Brennen’s sudden passing at just 17 has brought particular grief to his parents, Gen and Mike, and his brother, Landen. Friends and members of the community have rallied around the family as they navigate the loss and the difficult days following his death.
The Lincoln-Way community has responded with messages of support and remembrance. The Lincoln-Way Central Athletic Booster Club described the surrounding communities of Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox and Manhattan as one strong Lincoln-Way community and encouraged people to support one another during a difficult time.
A special memorial effort has also been organized in Brennen’s honor. Long-sleeve shirts featuring “LLB — Live Like Brennen” are being offered to celebrate his life and support the Saele family. Five dollars from each shirt sold will go directly to the family, with orders scheduled to close September 27 and pickup planned for October 1 at Lincoln-Way Central High School.
The community is also being encouraged to wear the shirts during the October 2 home football game against Lincoln-Way East, with supporters planning to fill the stands in red in Brennen’s honor. The Illinois JR Celtics Youth Football organization also joined others in remembering him with the message, “Once a Celtic, forever a Celtic.”
Brennen Saele’s life was brief, but the tributes shared by those who knew him reflect the impression he made on the people around him. He will be remembered for his smile, kindness, enthusiasm and the happiness he brought to others. As family, friends and the Lincoln-Way community continue to mourn, thoughts remain with Gen, Mike, Landen and everyone who loved Brennen.
