Brennen Saele Obituary, NEW LENOX, Ill. — Brennen Saele, 17, of New Lenox, Illinois, a Lincoln-Way Central High School senior known for his kindness, humor and determination, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Brennen was remembered by his family, friends, classmates and coworkers as a bright, hardworking and caring young man who brought positive energy to the people around him. At Hog Wild New Lenox, where he worked, coworkers described him as much more than an employee, recalling his ability to make people laugh and brighten even the busiest or most difficult days.

His family remembered Brennen for his warm personality, infectious laugh and welcoming nature. He had a way of making people feel cared for and loved simply by being himself. He was the beloved son of Michael and Genesis Saele and loving brother of Landen Saele. He was also cherished by his grandparents, extended family, cousins and many friends.

At Lincoln-Way Central, Brennen was a senior and participated as a Peer Buddy through the Best Buddies Program. His involvement reflected his commitment to friendship and inclusion and was among the ways he made a positive difference in the lives of others.

Brennen also had dreams of becoming a nurse and dedicating his future to helping people. Those who knew him said that ambition reflected the compassion he consistently showed to family, friends and coworkers. At Hog Wild, colleagues remembered him as someone who worked hard, stepped up when needed and continued to learn and grow while forming meaningful friendships with those around him.

Brennen lived with vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare genetic condition affecting connective tissue and causing blood vessels and organs to be unusually fragile. According to information based on an account from his mother, Brennen experienced pain on the night of September 18 before developing an aneurysm in an artery behind his clavicle. The aneurysm ruptured the following day, resulting in his death.

Funeral arrangements were scheduled to include visitation on September 27 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox, followed by Mass on September 28 at St. Jude Catholic Church. His family requested that memorial donations be made to organizations meaningful to Brennen, including the Marfan Foundation and the Best Buddies Program at Lincoln-Way Central.

Brennen’s death has left a lasting sense of loss among those who knew him, including his family, classmates, friends and Hog Wild coworkers. His laughter, generosity, compassion and dreams of helping others will remain part of the memories shared by the people whose lives he touched. The Hog Wild New Lenox family expressed that there would always be a place for Brennen among them as his loved ones and community continue to honor his memory.
