Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino Obituary, ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino, twin siblings and 17-year-old students at Cypress Creek High School in Orlando, have died alongside their father in a suspected murder-suicide at an Orange County residence.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to the 1200 block of Courtney Chase Circle at the Courtney Chase Apartment Homes to conduct a well-being check. When deputies entered the residence, they discovered Carlo and Melanie dead in the living room.
Their father, 63-year-old Ivan Montiel Roa, was found dead in the master bathroom, according to investigators. Based on preliminary findings, authorities believe Roa killed his two children before taking his own life. The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.
The deaths have affected the Cypress Creek High School community, where both Carlo and Melanie were students. Orange County Public Schools confirmed that school administrators had been notified about the deaths of two students and said grief counselors were made available to support students and staff dealing with the loss.
Florida State Representative Rita Harris, who lives near the area, also expressed shock over the tragedy. Harris described the deaths as devastating, particularly because of the young ages of the two students, and emphasized the importance of providing support to students, families and others affected by the incident.
A report cited by the South Florida Sun Sentinel said Roa, who was originally from Venezuela, had reportedly faced significant personal and financial difficulties in the months before the deaths. Those circumstances reportedly included the death of his wife in June and the dissolution of his construction business on September 25. Investigators have not established that those events were connected to the deaths, and no confirmed motive has been announced.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the deaths of Carlo and Melanie Montiel Infantino and their father. Authorities have preliminarily characterized the incident as a murder-suicide, while the investigation remains ongoing.
Carlo and Melanie’s deaths have left their classmates, school community and others grieving the loss of two 17-year-old siblings whose lives ended far too soon. Their memory remains with those who knew them, while grief counselors and community support continue to be available to those affected by the tragedy. May their loved ones find strength and support as they mourn their loss.
