Derrick L. Stewart Obituary, FORT DODGE, Iowa — Derrick L. Stewart, 27, of Fort Dodge, has died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in a fatal shooting early September 26 in the 300 block of South 4th Street.
The Fort Dodge Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID), along with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), is continuing to investigate the shooting and homicide. Police said the incident was reported at approximately 12:29 a.m.
Authorities initially withheld the identities of the victims while they worked to notify their families. Officials have since confirmed that all of the victims’ families were notified and released the names of the three people who were shot during the incident.
Stewart was identified as the victim who died. According to investigators, he suffered multiple gunshot wounds during the incident and died as a result of his injuries. He was 27 years old.
Two other Fort Dodge men were also injured in the shooting. Jayvion A. Wilson, 21, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalized. In the latest police update, Wilson was reported to be in stable condition.
Laquwon A. Moore, 29, was also shot during the incident. Police said Moore suffered a single gunshot wound, received treatment for his injuries, and was later released from the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by the Fort Dodge Police Department CID and Iowa DCI. Authorities have said that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Derrick L. Stewart’s death has left his family and those who knew him to mourn his passing at just 27 years old.
