Drue Obituary: Syracuse, Utah – Young Cheerleader Remembered for Courage, Kindness and Community Impact

Drue Obituary, SYRACUSE, Utah — Drue, a seventh-grade student at Syracuse Junior High School, has died following a battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was diagnosed with the disease in October 2022 and passed away on July 15, 2023, after developing an infection during treatment.

A cheerleader and athlete, Drue approached her diagnosis with the same energy and determination that characterized her everyday life. Throughout her treatment, she continued to inspire the people around her through her positive spirit and courage.

Drue was the youngest of five children and the only girl in her family. She was deeply loved by her four brothers, Devin, Sam, Ty and Noah. She enjoyed cheerleading, volleyball, softball, shopping, music and spending time with her friends.

Those who knew Drue remember her as energetic and outgoing, with an ability to make friends wherever she went. She was also known for standing up for others, particularly people who needed someone to support and champion them.

The extent of Drue’s impact on the community was reflected during her funeral, when cheerleaders from across Utah lined the streets in her honor. Their tribute demonstrated the lasting connection she had formed with friends, teammates and members of the wider community.

Drue’s legacy continues through the Do It for Drue Scholarship, which supports students at Syracuse Junior High and Flipside Tumbling. The scholarship carries forward a message inspired by the way she lived: to do the brave, kind, difficult, right and courageous thing.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Drue’s memory continues to be honored by her family, friends and community. Her life, courage and willingness to stand up for others remain an enduring part of the legacy she left behind.

Drue will be remembered for the energy she brought to the lives of those around her, her love of athletics and cheer, and the meaningful impact she made despite the challenges she faced. Her memory continues through the people who loved her and the scholarship established in her honor.
