Elijah John Obituary, ATLANTA, Ga. — Elijah John, 25, of Dallas, Georgia, has died after being fatally shot in southwest Atlanta on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, Zone 4 officers responded at approximately 1:42 p.m. to a report of a person shot near the 3200 block of Cushman Circle SW. When officers arrived, they learned that a woman had placed the wounded man in her private vehicle and transported him to a hospital in an effort to get him medical attention.
Approximately 14 minutes later, at 1:56 p.m., Zone 3 officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Michael Langford Drive SW, near Pryor Road, following another report of a person shot. Officers located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man was identified as Elijah John, 25. Atlanta Fire Rescue emergency medical personnel responded and attempted to provide assistance, but John was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident reportedly occurred near a Chevron gas station in southwest Atlanta.
Police believe the two 911 calls, which were received just 14 minutes apart, involved the same shooting and the same victim. Homicide detectives responded to the scene as investigators worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and determine what led to John’s death.
As of the available information, Atlanta police have not released details about a possible suspect or announced any arrests in connection with the shooting. Investigators have also not publicly disclosed what led to the fatal incident.
