Ethan Vanderber Obituary, NORTON SHORES, Mich. — Ethan Vanderber, 23, of Norton Shores, Michigan, has died following a vehicle crash Thursday morning on U.S. 31 in Shelby Township. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and others who knew him mourning the loss of a young life.
The crash was reported at approximately 9:19 a.m. after Mason-Oceana 911 received a call about a vehicle that had gone off the roadway. Emergency responders were dispatched to the area, where they found Vanderber’s 2015 Chevrolet Silverado after it had crashed into a concrete support pillar beneath the Hayes Road overpass.
According to the Michigan State Police, Vanderber was traveling northbound on U.S. 31 when his pickup left the roadway to the west and entered the median. The vehicle then struck the concrete pillar in a head-on collision and caught fire.
A witness at the scene reported that the driver might still be inside the burning vehicle. Emergency responders worked at the scene, but Vanderber was pronounced dead. No additional details about the circumstances leading to the crash have been released.
