Gabriel W. “Gabe” Christensen Obituary, SLATER, Iowa — Gabriel W. “Gabe” Christensen, 21, of Slater, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2025, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Christensen is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 2210 Lincoln Way, in Ames. A Celebration of Gabe’s Life will be held at a later date.
Christensen is being remembered for the positive impact he had on those around him and within the wrestling community. Tributes shared following his passing described him as someone who made a lasting impression despite his young age.
Among his accomplishments was a 2023 Iowa High School State Championship. Friends and members of the wrestling community remembered Christensen for achieving significant milestones in a short period of time.
One tribute noted that Christensen won an Iowa high school state championship while wrestling for his father, Casey, and alongside his brother, Henry. The accomplishment was cited as part of the legacy he leaves within the wrestling community.
Those mourning Christensen have extended their thoughts and prayers to his family, as well as to the wrestling communities he touched. Tributes described his passing as coming far too early and recognized the positive influence he had on others.
