Chief George Bacorn Obituary, DENTON, Md. — Chief George Bacorn of the Denton Police Department has died following a motor vehicle collision, according to a statement from Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
Bacorn served as Chief of the Denton Police Department for 36 years, dedicating decades of his career to public service and the safety of the communities he served. His longtime leadership made him a prominent member of the law enforcement community in Denton and Caroline County.
In addition to his service as Denton police chief, Bacorn served this year as the head of the MML Chiefs and Sheriffs Association. His leadership extended beyond the Denton Police Department and reflected his longstanding involvement in Maryland’s law enforcement community.
Governor Moore described Bacorn as someone who embodied the meaning of serving others and dedicated his life to keeping communities safe. Moore said Denton, Caroline County, and Maryland were better places because of Bacorn’s courage and public service.
Following Bacorn’s death, Governor Moore ordered the Maryland flag lowered to half-staff in his honor. The governor also asked Maryland residents to join him and Dawn Moore in praying for Bacorn’s family, the Denton Police Department, his law enforcement colleagues, and the wider community.
