Kenneth “Dolittle” Shelley Obituary, MARION, Ky. — Kenneth “Dolittle” Shelley, 60, of Marion, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at his home.
Shelley was born on October 6, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, to the late William and Annabelle Wilkens Shelley. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for IUOE 181, building a career in the heavy equipment industry.
Beyond his professional life, Shelley was known for his love of rodeo. He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA), where he was recognized as a gifted team roper.
Throughout his years in team roping, Shelley won multiple awards, reflecting his skill and dedication to the sport. His involvement in rodeo was an important part of his life and legacy.
Shelley also had an interest in firearms and was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). His interests and activities reflected the passions he pursued throughout his life.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Marsha Burkeen; son, Lane Shelley and his wife, Jessica; daughter, Amanda Allsobrook; stepdaughter, Tiffany Brown and her husband, Scottie; sisters, Doris Belcher and Dee Ross; brother, Bill Shelley and his wife, Pam; and grandchildren Brier Brown, Brayton Brown and Ida Shelley.
Funeral services for Kenneth Shelley will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Gilbert Funeral Home, with Bro. Keith Lovell officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kentucky High School Rodeo Association. Kenneth “Dolittle” Shelley will be remembered by his family, friends and those who knew him through his work and lifelong passion for rodeo.
