Michelle Lee Turner Obituary, ATHENS, Ala. — Michelle Lee Turner, 44, of Athens, Alabama, was found deceased inside her residence at the Fifth Avenue Apartments, with authorities investigating her death as a homicide and identifying her ex-boyfriend, Calvin Troup, as the person arrested in connection with the case.
At approximately 12:52 a.m., officers with the Athens Police Department responded to the Fifth Avenue Apartments at 700 Fifth Ave. following an emergency call. Upon arrival, officers entered Turner’s residence and located her deceased in a bedroom.
Authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding Turner’s death as a homicide. Investigators said the incident appears to be domestic-related, although police have not released additional details about what occurred inside the residence.
The investigation led authorities to Troup, who was located in Decatur. He was taken into custody and transported to the Athens Police Department for further processing in connection with the investigation.
Troup was subsequently charged with Capital Murder and transferred into the custody of the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. The charge represents an allegation, and the case remains under investigation.
Police have not released further information about the circumstances surrounding Turner’s death or what led to the fatal incident. Investigators continue working to establish the full sequence of events.
The Athens Police Department thanked the Decatur Police Department and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during the investigation. Authorities said no further information would be released at this time.
