Michelle Walker Obituary, OAKLAND, Calif. — Michelle “Min” Walker, 63, founder of the Bryn Walker women’s fashion brand, and her husband, Bryan Walker, 61, the company’s chief executive officer, were found dead from gunshot wounds outside their home in Oakland’s Panoramic Hill neighborhood on Friday morning, October 2, 2026, authorities said.

Oakland police responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 11 a.m. at the couple’s residence on Panoramic Way. Officers found Michelle and Bryan Walker with gunshot wounds and attempted lifesaving measures, but both were pronounced dead at the scene. A firearm was recovered as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Authorities are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide. Police have not publicly confirmed the precise sequence of events or established a motive. Investigators have said they are not currently searching for another suspect and that there is no known threat to the surrounding community.

Michelle Walker founded Bryn Walker in 1992 and built the company into a recognized women’s fashion brand known for comfortable clothing, quality materials and sophisticated designs. Bryan Walker served as CEO, and the couple worked together for years in developing and operating the business.

The company reportedly supplies approximately 1,000 boutiques across the country, while its clothing has also been sold through major department stores. Bryn Walker has operated retail locations in Berkeley and Massachusetts, reflecting the reach of the brand Michelle Walker built over decades.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company participated in a local effort to produce tens of thousands of masks and thousands of face shields for Bay Area hospitals, according to reports. The effort became part of the couple’s broader connection to the community during a period of significant need.

A woman who identified herself as Michelle Walker’s sister told reporters that Bryan Walker had recently been experiencing mental-health challenges. That account has not been independently confirmed by investigators, and authorities have not publicly established whether personal, financial or business-related circumstances contributed to the shooting.

Oakland police, with assistance from Berkeley police, continue to investigate the deaths. Surveillance footage reportedly captured sounds associated with the incident, while a neighbor reportedly heard two gunshots close together, although those accounts have not established the full sequence of events. Investigators are asking anyone with relevant information, photographs or video to contact law enforcement.

Michelle and Bryan Walker are remembered through the business and creative legacy they built together, as well as their reported contributions to the Bay Area community. Their deaths have left family, friends, employees and others connected to Bryn Walker mourning the loss of two people whose personal and professional lives were closely intertwined. As the investigation continues, condolences go to all those affected by their passing, and their lives and work will remain part of the legacy they created together.
