Officers found Gerber deceased at the location, and responding paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Police are investigating Gerber’s death as a suspected overdose and said there was no indication of foul play. However, the official cause and manner of death have not been determined. Gerber was the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber. He established a modeling career of his own after beginning in the fashion industry as a teenager. His work included campaigns and runway appearances for major fashion brands, including Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana.
In 2018, Gerber appeared alongside his mother in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial that recreated Crawford’s famous 1992 campaign. Gerber had previously spoken publicly about struggles involving mental health and substance use. In recent years, he used social media to discuss his experiences and encourage conversations around mental health. His sister also discussed the effect of his struggles on their family in a recent interview with Vogue.
Following his death, a representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber said the family was asking for privacy during what was described as a difficult and painful time. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s investigation remains ongoing, with further testing needed before an official cause of death can be released.
Presley Gerber’s death at 27 marks the loss of a young model whose career and personal experiences were closely connected to the fashion world and to his family. As authorities continue working to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, condolences remain with his parents, sister, loved ones, friends and those who knew him.
