Robert G. Barr Jr. Obituary, EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Robert G. Barr Jr., 54, of Egg Harbor Township, has died following a head-on collision involving a stolen vehicle in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton Township on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Authorities identified Barr and his longtime partner, 67-year-old Alice Stilwell, as the two people killed in the crash.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. near Route 50 and Third Street. According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the vehicle that struck the couple’s vehicle had been reported stolen. Investigators determined that the stolen vehicle was responsible for the collision.

Barr was remembered in community posts as a bus driver for Egg Harbor Township. Friends and members of the local community have expressed grief following his death, with tributes describing Barr and Stilwell as a couple who were loved by many throughout the community.

Stilwell was also well known in Egg Harbor Township, where she worked as a hairdresser at Hair We Are for approximately 15 years. The salon’s owner remembered her as a longtime member of the Hair We Are family, a dedicated worker, talented hairdresser and trusted friend. The owner also described Barr as an Egg Harbor Township bus driver and said the couple had been deeply valued by people in the community.

The circumstances surrounding Barr’s death have resulted in an ongoing criminal investigation. Authorities said 18-year-old Nayshaun Brown of Atlantic City and three juveniles who were in the stolen vehicle were charged following the initial investigation. Brown faces additional charges, while the cases involving the juveniles remain subject to the juvenile justice process.

The investigation is being conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Hamilton Township Police Department and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. Officials said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.

Barr’s obituary has been published by Saraceno Funeral Home in Egg Harbor City, although the funeral home’s online listing currently does not provide additional biographical information.

As family, friends and members of the Egg Harbor Township community mourn Robert G. Barr Jr., tributes continue to remember him alongside Alice Stilwell and the life they shared. Their deaths have left loved ones and community members grieving the sudden loss of two people whose lives were connected to the South Jersey community.
