Shamima Begum and Areebah Jahin Obituary, BETHESDA, Md. — Shamima Begum, 46, and her daughter, Areebah Jahin, 23, have died following a devastating crash on Interstate 270 in Bethesda, Maryland. The mother and daughter were passengers in a Toyota sedan involved in a head-on collision with a Ford Mustang traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate.

According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 6:46 p.m. Saturday, just south of Democracy Boulevard. The collision occurred when the Mustang traveling against traffic struck the Toyota sedan head-on.

Shamima and Areebah were pronounced dead following the crash. Their deaths have left family members and others close to them mourning the sudden loss of two lives taken in the same tragic incident.

Shamima, 46, will be remembered by those who knew her as a mother whose life was centered around the people closest to her. Her death represents a profound loss for the family and those who shared memories and moments with her.
