Stephen Biggs Obituary, PUEBLO, Colo. — Corporal Stephen Biggs, an off-duty Pueblo Police Department officer, has died after being involved in a wakeboarding accident at Lake Pueblo State Park on Sunday. His body was recovered early Monday morning after he was reported missing.
Officials identified Biggs as the boater whose body was recovered from the lake following the incident. The Pueblo County Coroner’s Office is expected to release his official cause and manner of death at a later time.
Biggs had served with the Pueblo Police Department since October 2010, building a career marked by service and recognition within the department. During his time with the agency, he served as a Patrol Training Officer and was a distinguished member of the department’s SWAT team.
Throughout his career, Biggs received 10 letters of commendation in recognition of his service. He was also honored with three Medal of Valor awards and received the Distinguished Service award.
Pueblo Police Chief Chris Noeller described working with Biggs as an honor and said his death was deeply personal for the department. Noeller remembered Biggs for his courage, dedication and commitment to his fellow officers.
“Working with Stephen was an honor, and his loss is deeply personal,” Noeller said. He also expressed his condolences to Biggs’ family, friends and members of the Pueblo Police Department who are grieving his death.
The circumstances surrounding the wakeboarding accident remain part of the official investigation, while the coroner is expected to provide additional information regarding Biggs’ death. His years of service, awards and contributions to the Pueblo Police Department will remain an important part of his professional legacy.
