Stephen Wieu Guot Obituary, AWEIL WEST COUNTY — Stephen Wieu Guot, the former Commissioner of Aweil West County, has died following an illness that began in January, according to an announcement from his family.
Guot passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, according to Athian Ambasador, who announced the death on behalf of the family. His passing marks the loss of a former county official who served the people of Aweil West County.
“Former Commissioner, Hon. Stephen Wieu Guot, passed away this morning,” Athian said in a statement issued on behalf of the family.
According to the family, Guot had been battling an illness since January before his death. No further details about the nature of the illness were provided in the announcement.
Following his death, his body was taken to Maturi. The family said his body will be moved to Aweil Civil Hospital for public viewing on Sunday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The family also announced that Guot will be laid to rest in his home village of Udhum, Mariem West Payam, on Monday, September 28, 2026.
