UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, Urbana, Ill. — A death investigation is underway at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign after a deceased individual was reportedly found on campus early Sunday morning near the Alma Mater statue at Green and Wright streets.
The discovery was reported at approximately 6:42 a.m., according to the information available. The area is near one of the university’s most recognizable landmarks and is part of the central Urbana campus.
The University of Illinois Police Department is investigating the incident. Campus police are responsible for law enforcement and emergency response on the Urbana campus as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
