Stephen Park Obituary, AGHALEE — Stephen Park, a 22-year-old from Aghalee, has died following a tragic accident, prompting an outpouring of tributes from his family, friends and fellow members of the Drumderg Loyalists Flute Band.
Stephen, who was engaged to his fiancée Rachel and was shortly due to be married, was described by those who knew him as a “gentle giant” who was dependable, genuine and loved by many. His death last Thursday has left those close to him mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his character and commitment.
The Drumderg Loyalists Flute Band in Keady paid tribute to Stephen as an “esteemed member and much-loved friend.” His final event with the band was a parade in London earlier this month, marking his last appearance alongside fellow members.
In a tribute shared by the band, Stephen was remembered for his loyalty to those closest to him, including his fiancée Rachel, his parents, sister and extended family, as well as his church and friendship group. The band also highlighted his strong commitment to his fellow members.
“Stephen was committed in everything he did and quietly went about his business,” the band said, recalling how he regularly attended parades, practices and band events without seeking attention.
The band described Stephen as an “absolute gentleman” and a popular presence in the back row. He was remembered for his smile, laughter and the love of God that those around him saw in his everyday life.
Stephen’s passing has brought deep sadness to the Drumderg Loyalists Flute Band and the wider community of those who knew him. His fellow bandsmen remembered not only his dedication to the organisation but also the warmth and friendship he brought to those around him.
As tributes continue to be shared, Stephen Park will be remembered by those who knew him as a devoted young man, a much-loved friend and an esteemed member of his band. Thoughts and condolences remain with his fiancée Rachel, his family, friends and all who are mourning his loss.
