Cordaro Ryan Stock Obituary, LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. — Cordaro Ryan Stock, 34, of Toledo, Oregon, was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 20 late Wednesday night, August 26, according to the Oregon State Police.
The fatal pedestrian crash occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. near milepost 10 on Highway 20. According to the preliminary investigation, a beige 1996 Acura Integra was traveling westbound when it struck an object in the roadway.
The vehicle was operated by 19-year-old Orion David Sliwka of Salem. Investigators said Sliwka and his passenger initially believed the vehicle had struck a deer. The Acura continued westbound and eventually stopped at a business in Newport.
While at the business, another person spoke with Sliwka and the passenger and learned that the vehicle may have struck a person. That individual then contacted 911 and reported the possible pedestrian collision to authorities.
Officers with the Toledo Police Department responded to the area following the report and located a deceased pedestrian in a ditch near milepost 10 on Highway 20. The pedestrian was identified as Cordaro Ryan Stock, 34, of Toledo. Stock was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Neither Sliwka nor his passenger was injured in the collision. Oregon State Police said Sliwka cooperated with investigators during the response and investigation.
The crash caused significant traffic impacts as law enforcement investigated the scene. Highway 20 was affected for approximately six hours while investigators documented the crash and gathered evidence.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to Stock being in the roadway or whether citations or criminal charges will result from the investigation. The Oregon State Police continue to investigate the fatal pedestrian crash, and officials said no further information will be released at this time while the investigation remains active.
