Phoenix Phillips Obituary, CLEVELAND, Ohio — A body was recovered from the Cuyahoga River near Old River Road and the Carter Road Bridge Tuesday afternoon as the search continues for 24-year-old Phoenix Phillips, who has been missing since Friday morning.
Cleveland Fire crews recovered a body from the river during the ongoing search. The person recovered was described as a white male, but authorities have not officially released an identity or confirmed that the deceased person is Phillips.
Phillips, 24, had traveled to Cleveland from out of town with a friend to attend the Steelers-Browns game Thursday night. The two later became separated during the early morning hours Friday.
According to information provided to police, Phillips was last seen at approximately 6 a.m. October 2 near West 10th Street, West Superior Avenue and Robert Lockwood Jr. Drive. A Cleveland police missing-person flyer lists 1444 W. 10th Street as his last known location and indicates that he was traveling on foot.
Phillips is described as 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with blue eyes. He was last known to be wearing a gray hoodie, beige pants and white tennis shoes. His family has traveled to Ohio to assist with the search and has described his disappearance as out of character.
Phillips’ cellphone has reportedly been located and turned over to Cleveland police. Authorities have not publicly disclosed where the phone was found or whether information from the device has helped investigators determine his movements.
At this time, Phillips’ status remains officially unconfirmed, and the identity of the person recovered from the Cuyahoga River is pending.
