Dennis Caulder Obituary, DILLON, S.C. — Dennis Caulder, 26, has died after being critically injured in a shooting on Railroad Avenue in Dillon on September 28, according to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Caulder was shot near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and West Palmetto Street, according to Dillon Police Chief Monroe Herring. Following the shooting, he was transported by air to a hospital while in critical condition.
Despite emergency medical treatment, Caulder later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. His death was confirmed by Coroner Grimsley, who identified him as the victim.
An autopsy is being performed as authorities continue working to establish additional details surrounding Caulder’s death. Information about what led to the shooting has not been released.
Authorities have also not released information about a suspect or indicated whether anyone has been taken into custody. The Dillon Police Department remains actively involved in the investigation.
