William Stall Obituary, SEBRING, Fla. — William Stall, 20, of Avon Park, Florida, died after being fatally shot Tuesday evening, October 6, 2026, on Melady Avenue in Sebring, according to the Sebring Police Department.
Sebring police officers responded to the area shortly before 8 p.m. following a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Stall inside his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but Stall was pronounced dead.
Detectives investigating the shooting said preliminary information indicates the incident occurred during what appeared to be a drug deal. Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the events leading up to it remain under investigation.
Following the shooting, the person suspected in the case reportedly fled the area. Sebring police officers and detectives began searching for the suspect, with assistance from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continued through Tuesday night.
During the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 7, investigators located a 16-year-old Sebring boy and took him into custody. Police said the juvenile was charged with robbery and murder during the commission of a robbery.
Authorities have not released the juvenile’s name because of his age. Police also said additional charges could be filed as detectives continue gathering evidence and working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Stall’s death has left his family, friends and others who knew him grieving the loss of a young man whose life ended at just 20 years old. His passing has brought renewed attention to the ongoing investigation in Sebring.
