Oliver Forlines Obituary, NELSON COUNTY, Va. — Oliver “Oli” Forlines, a beloved 12-year-old from Nelson County, Virginia, has died, leaving behind family, friends, church members, and others who knew him to grieve the loss of a young life remembered for its kindness, creativity, compassion, and faith.
In a deeply emotional message shared by his family, Oli’s grandparents described the profound pain of losing a child who brought joy and kindness to those around him. They asked for prayers for his parents, Jonathan Forlines and Gloria Hall, as they navigate the loss, while also requesting special prayers for Oli’s younger brother, Elisha, known as Eli.
Born on May 7, 2014, Oli was remembered as a gentle and caring child who approached the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. He enjoyed building with Legos, exploring nature, reading books, playing soccer, gaming, and collecting rocks. His family and friends also remembered him for the small gifts and thoughtful acts of encouragement he would offer simply to make someone else’s day brighter.
Faith was an important part of Oli’s life. He was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he participated in the church’s youth ministry. His faith helped shape the kindness and generosity that those closest to him came to associate with his character.
Oli was also involved in Nelson County’s 4-H program and local recreation soccer. Through those activities, he developed friendships and shared his enthusiasm for learning, adventure, and spending time with others. His interests and involvement reflected the curiosity and energy that characterized his young life.
His bond with his younger brother Eli was especially meaningful. The brothers spent countless hours crafting, playing outdoors, gaming, and talking together late into the night. Their relationship was marked by friendship, laughter, and unconditional love, leaving Eli and the family with cherished memories of the time they shared.
A funeral service celebrating Oli’s life will be held on September 5 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston. In recognition of his love for collecting rocks, those attending are invited to bring a rock that will become part of a memorial garden dedicated to his memory.
Although Oli’s life was far too short, his family hopes that the kindness, faith, compassion, and love he demonstrated will continue through the people who knew him. His memory will remain connected to the many small acts of generosity and moments of joy he shared with others.
