Adger Luther Stamey Obituary, ANDERSON, S.C. — Adger Luther Stamey, 44, of Anderson, South Carolina, was killed Wednesday afternoon following a shooting on Port Royal Road that authorities said stemmed from a domestic dispute.
According to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore, Anderson County 911 received a report of a shooting shortly after 2:30 p.m. Emergency responders were dispatched to the area and found Stamey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Medical personnel treated Stamey at the scene and attempted to save his life. Despite those efforts, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office determined that Stamey’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. His manner of death was ruled a homicide.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Stamey was involved in a domestic dispute that escalated and resulted in gunfire, authorities said. The specific circumstances surrounding the dispute and what led to the shooting have not been fully released.
The Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Stamey’s death. No additional details about the events leading up to the shooting were immediately available.
