Jeremy Jenkins Obituary: East Bernard, Texas – Coach and Educator Remembered After Fatal Crash

Jeremy Jenkins Obituary, EAST BERNARD, Texas — Jeremy Jenkins, the athletic director and head football coach at East Bernard ISD, and his wife, Brandy Jenkins, died in a car accident on Saturday, August 15, leaving behind their three sons and communities across Texas mourning their loss.

Jeremy, 51, was known as Coach Jenkins and was recognized for his work in athletics, education and mentoring young people. He had served as athletic director and head football coach at East Bernard ISD, while also previously serving as athletic director and head football coach at Harmony. His coaching career was marked by a commitment to his players and the young people he worked with.

Brandy, 46, was an educator and had recently begun teaching at East Bernard Junior High. Community posts described her as a devoted wife and mother and a strong supporter of Jeremy, their sons and the athletes he coached. She and Jeremy were remembered by members of the community for their involvement in the lives of young people.

The couple’s deaths have left their three sons, Tyson, 20, Gage, 18, and Jake, 16, facing the loss of both parents. A benefit fund has been established to support the brothers as they continue their education, manage living expenses and plan for their futures. The funds are intended to be divided equally among the three sons.

Support has also begun coming from surrounding Texas communities. The Poth Athletic Booster Club announced that it will donate all concession proceeds from its August 20 football scrimmage to the Jenkins family, along with an additional $500 contribution. Donation buckets will also be available at the entrance and concession stand for people who wish to contribute.

The Jenkins family’s loss has resonated beyond East Bernard and the communities where Jeremy coached. Former schools, athletic programs, businesses and community organizations have shared messages of support, reflecting the connections Jeremy and Brandy developed through education, athletics, family and community life.

Jeremy was also the brother of Greg Jenkins, the athletic director and head boys basketball coach at Martin’s Mill. The family’s loss has brought together people from several Texas school communities who have expressed their support for the Jenkins brothers and their extended family.

As friends, former players, students, educators and communities continue to remember Jeremy and Brandy Jenkins, attention remains focused on supporting Tyson, Gage and Jake in the difficult days ahead. Their memory will remain closely connected to the young people they served, the communities they supported and the family they built together. Condolences go to the Jenkins family, their sons, friends, colleagues and all those mourning their loss.
