Keiler Cruz-Guerra Obituary: Arlington, Texas – 5-Year-Old Boy Remembered After Fatal Stabbing Incident

Keiler Cruz-Guerra Obituary, ARLINGTON, Texas — Keiler Cruz-Guerra, 5, has died following injuries sustained in a stabbing incident at an Arlington apartment complex Wednesday night, according to information released by the Arlington Police Department. His death remains under investigation as authorities continue examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police said Keiler Cruz-Guerra and his 2-year-old brother, Khaled Cruz-Guerra, were found inside an Arlington apartment with injuries consistent with a knife attack. Both children were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment after officers responded to the location.

Keiler later died from his injuries, while Khaled Cruz-Guerra remains hospitalized. Authorities have provided limited updates regarding Khaled’s condition, with reports describing his status differently. Officials have not released further details about his recovery.

The investigation led authorities to charge Keiler’s father, 27-year-old Heyco Cruz Linares, with capital murder in connection with the child’s death. Cruz Linares was also charged with evading and making a terroristic threat against a peace officer, according to police.

Authorities said the investigation began after Cruz Linares allegedly approached an Arlington police officer at a gas station and struck the patrol vehicle’s window with a knife before leaving the area. Police later conducted a pursuit that ended with his arrest on Interstate 30 near Northwest Seventh Street with assistance from the Grand Prairie Police Department.

Police said Cruz Linares allegedly told officers after his arrest that he had killed his children at an Arlington apartment. Officers then responded to the location and discovered Keiler and Khaled with injuries consistent with a knife attack.

The charges against Cruz Linares are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The Arlington Police Department continues to investigate the events leading up to Keiler’s death and has not released additional details about a possible motive.

Keiler Cruz-Guerra’s passing has left the Arlington community mourning the loss of a young child whose life ended far too soon. As authorities continue their investigation, condolences are extended to those affected by this tragedy, while officials await further developments in the case.
