Keywaun Clark and Derek Parson Obituary, SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Keywaun Clark, 20, and Derek Parson, 19, were killed following a shooting Tuesday night at a Dollar General parking lot on Race Track Road in Sumter County, according to authorities.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the parking lot after receiving a report of gunfire. When deputies arrived, they found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Clark was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a fatal gunshot wound, according to Sumter County Coroner Robert Baker. Parson was also wounded in the shooting and was transported to a hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.
A third person was also wounded in the shooting. Authorities have not released information about that individual’s current condition.
The deadly shooting is being investigated by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, the Sumter County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Officials have not released additional details about what led to the gunfire.
Authorities also have not announced whether a suspect has been identified or whether any arrests have been made. Investigators are continuing to work to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
