FRANKFORT, Ill. — A 2-year-old boy has died following a disturbing incident at a home in the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court in Frankfort, Illinois, prompting a preliminary domestic-related homicide investigation by local authorities.
According to the information provided, Frankfort police responded to the residence at approximately 4:04 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, after receiving a report of an unresponsive child. Officers arrived and found the toddler receiving CPR. Emergency efforts continued as the child was transported to Silver Cross Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police also found the child’s mother at the residence with non-life-threatening injuries after an apparent attempt to harm herself. She was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not publicly released the identities of the mother or the child.
Online reports have identified the mother as Corie Walsh and her husband as Michael Walsh, but those identities have not been officially confirmed by police based on the information available. Michael Walsh has been described in the reports as the child’s father and a family member left mourning the loss. There is no information provided indicating that Michael Walsh died.
Frankfort Police Chief Leanne Chelepis reportedly said the preliminary investigation indicates that the child’s death was a “domestic-related homicide.” However, authorities have not publicly explained how the toddler died, identified a suspect, or announced criminal charges in connection with the case.
Investigators reportedly remained at the Brook Stone Court residence for several hours Tuesday evening and into the overnight period. Five people were reportedly transported from the property by the Frankfort Fire Protection District, although officials have not released details identifying the other individuals or explaining why they were transported.
Authorities have also not publicly disclosed the condition of any other children who may have been inside the residence. As the investigation continues, officials have urged the public to rely on confirmed information rather than unverified claims circulating across social media.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected as police and the coroner release further details. The death of the young child has left those affected by the tragedy grieving, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
