Nikkolas Geordan Hurd Obituary, COVINGTON, La. — Nikkolas Geordan Hurd, 24, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was born on October 1, 2001, in Slidell, Louisiana, and grew up in Talisheek, where he became known to those around him for his personality, interests, and strong connections with family and friends.
Nikkolas began his firefighting career with St. Tammany Parish Fire District #12 in January 2023. He graduated from the Fire Academy on June 23, 2023, and took great pride in his role as a firefighter and operator. His time with the department became an important part of his life, and he considered his fellow firemen among his closest family.
Outside of his work as a firefighter, Nikkolas enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved listening to music, playing video games, and getting tattoos. He additionally worked with My Tree Service, where Russell Gregory played a significant role in his life.
Those who knew Nikkolas will remember him as a big goofball who loved making others laugh. His personality and ability to bring humor into the lives of those around him became part of the lasting memories shared by his family, friends, and fellow firefighters.
Nikkolas is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Nicole Dickey; father, Roger G. Hurd; siblings, Tristion Hurd, Ashlynn Hurd, and Railynn Taylor; girlfriend, Madison Rodriguez; grandfather, William Hopkins; aunt, Melissa Dickey and Ron Green; cousins, Courey Hopkins and Landon Green; nephews, Mason Taylor, Eli Buckley, Lawrence McNeil, Matthew McNeil, and Noah Buckley; along with many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his angel niece, McKinnley Hurd; angel cousin, Logan Green; grandmother, Diane Hopkins; grandfather, Kenneth Dickey; great-grandparents, Mary and James Kennedy; and stepfather, Billy Ray Taylor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Operator Nikk Hurd may be made to St. Tammany Parish Fire District #12 or to the organization specified by his family in the full obituary. His passing leaves behind family members, friends, and fellow firefighters who will remember his service, his humor, and the relationships he built throughout his life.
