Nolan Crowell Obituary, DAVENPORT, Iowa — Nolan Crowell, 18, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, as a result of an automobile accident. His passing has left family, friends, and members of the community remembering a young man known for his creativity, compassion, and unique way of seeing the world.
Nolan Wesley Crowell was born on April 15, 2008, to Travis and Amanda Crowell of Davenport. From an early age, he was described by his family as one of the most creative people they knew, with an imagination and perspective that made him stand out.
Those who knew Nolan throughout his childhood remember his adventurous spirit and curiosity. Neighbors recalled seeing him riding his scooter while wearing a superhero costume, and his family shared memories of his creative attempts to explore the world around him, including plugging in a box fan on a still day in an effort to help fly a kite. He also enjoyed taking apart electronics and other items, exploring how things worked even when putting them back together was not always part of the plan.
Nolan enjoyed many activities growing up, including playing pretend, exploring the forest behind his home, and having Nerf gun battles. During annual family trips to Naples, Florida, he embraced every adventure, spending time at the beach and in the water with energy and excitement.
As he grew older, Nolan continued to show a caring and compassionate nature. His family shared that he faced personal challenges while they searched for ways to support him. They expressed special gratitude for Jace Geissinger, who was a close friend to Nolan and provided friendship and support, especially during the final months of his life.
Nolan’s family said he passed away while driving home from Jace’s workplace and found comfort knowing that his final moments were spent happy and laughing with a friend. He will be remembered and missed by his parents, his brothers Justin and Conner Crowell, grandparents Duncan and Dianne Cameron of Bettendorf, Margie Crowell of Centerville, Iowa, and Mark and Vicki Lewis of Flowery Branch, Georgia, along with extended family and friends.
Nolan’s memory will also continue through the many people he met during his life, including friends from JFK Catholic, Davenport West, and North Scott. A memorial has been designated in his honor to the Putnam Museum and Science Center in Davenport, recognizing the curiosity and creative spirit that were an important part of who he was.
Visitation will be held at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport on Thursday, October 8, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Additional visitation will take place at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Nolan Crowell’s family and friends will continue to honor his memory and cherish the impact he made during his life.
