Del’Wan Bland Arrested in Shooting-Related Homicide of Omar DeLoatch, PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. — A 41-year-old Prince George man has been arrested in connection with the shooting-related death of Omar DeLoatch, a 44-year-old Hampton man who was found deceased on private property near James River Drive.
The Prince George County Police Department said officers were dispatched at approximately 10:50 a.m. on August 29, 2026, to the 15200 block of James River Drive following a report of an unresponsive person. When officers arrived, investigators located a deceased man who had suffered trauma consistent with ballistic injuries.
Police identified the victim as Omar DeLoatch, 44, of Hampton, Virginia. Authorities have not released additional details about DeLoatch’s background or the circumstances that preceded his death.
Officers and detectives worked throughout the day to advance the investigation and identify a suspect in the case. Authorities subsequently arrested Del’Wan Bland, 41, of Prince George, Virginia, on August 29.
According to police, Bland was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Riverside Regional Jail. He is being held without bond in connection with the case.
Bland faces charges of second-degree murder under Virginia Code § 18.2-32, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony under Virginia Code § 18.2-53.1, and possession of a firearm by a violent felon under Virginia Code § 18.2-308.2.
