Owen Coyne Obituary, MARBLEHEAD, Mass. — Owen Coyne, a senior at Marblehead High School and a dedicated three-sport athlete, has died, according to an announcement from Marblehead Public Schools on Friday, October 2, 2026. His passing has left the Marblehead community mourning the loss of a student, teammate, captain and friend.
Superintendent John Robidoux shared a message from Coyne’s parents, Angela Paradise and Brian Coyne, along with his siblings, Grady, Landon and Ella. The family described Owen as a beloved son, brother, captain, teammate and friend, and expressed their heartbreak following his death.
Coyne was a prominent member of Marblehead High School’s athletic community, participating in football, baseball and track and field. His involvement across multiple sports made him a familiar presence among classmates, teammates, coaches and school staff.
During the 2026 indoor track season, Coyne competed in events including the 55-meter dash and high jump. He recorded a six-foot high jump at the MIAA Division 3 championship, highlighting his dedication as a student-athlete.
Coyne also served as one of the senior captains of the 2026 Marblehead High School football team alongside Pete Rhodes and Tim Wales. Local sports coverage highlighted the leadership role of the senior captains as they helped guide younger players during the season.
Beyond football and track, Coyne contributed to Marblehead’s baseball program. During the 2026 spring baseball season, he played a key role in a 12-inning victory over Danvers, scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th inning during Marblehead’s 10-9 win.
Following the announcement of his death, Marblehead Public Schools said counseling support was available for students and staff as the community works through the loss. Friends, teammates, teachers and classmates have come together to remember Coyne and support one another.
