Ricky York Obituary: Monroe County, Alabama – Evergreen Man Dies After Head-On Crash on Alabama 21

Ricky J. York Obituary, MONROE COUNTY, Ala. — Ricky J. York, 68, of Evergreen, Alabama, has died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Alabama 21 in Monroe County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the crash happened late Monday morning on Alabama 21 near Black’s Loop Road, approximately one mile south of Beatrice. York was a passenger in a Mazda 3 involved in a collision with a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The Mazda was driven by Sherry D. York, 65, also of Evergreen. Ricky York suffered critical injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, where he received medical treatment.

Despite efforts to treat his injuries, Ricky York later died, according to ALEA. His death has left his memory with those who knew him and marked the end of a difficult fight following the crash.

Sherry York was also seriously injured and was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment. The Ford F-150 was driven by Jeffrey L. Gandy, 63, of Elberta, who was transported to Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville for medical treatment. His condition was not released.

The circumstances surrounding the head-on collision have not been fully disclosed. ALEA troopers with the Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash.

As the investigation continues, additional information may be released by authorities. Ricky J. York will be remembered following his passing, and condolences go to those affected by his death.
