Sergeant James Lukash Obituary, PHOENIX, Ariz. — Sergeant James Lukash of the Phoenix Police Department has died after suffering a medical event at his home. He was taken to a local hospital on August 30, 2026, and passed away there on September 3, 2026, according to information provided by the department’s Employee Assistance Unit.

Lukash served with the Phoenix Police Department for more than two decades. He joined the department on June 21, 2004, and was later assigned to the Violent Crimes Bureau Robbery Unit, where he served alongside fellow officers and members of the department.

News of his death has deeply affected members of the Phoenix Police Department. A message shared by the department described Lukash as a friend to all who knew him and emphasized the strong regard his colleagues had for him and their appreciation for working alongside him.
