Silvia Bahena Obituary, Tooele, Utah Shooting Update — Daniel Ruesga, 37, of Tooele, Utah, has been charged with first-degree murder and four counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child following the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Silvia Bahena, authorities allege.
The incident occurred Monday, August 31, 2026, at a residence on the 600 block of Kings Landing Road in Tooele. According to allegations outlined by authorities, Ruesga and Bahena were involved in an argument before the shooting.
Investigators allege that Ruesga intentionally drove his Toyota Tundra into the rear of Bahena’s Tesla. Authorities further allege that he then entered the garage of the residence and shot Bahena.
Ruesga reportedly admitted to investigators that he crashed his pickup truck into the Tesla and shot Bahena. Bahena was killed in the incident, according to authorities.
Authorities said Bahena’s four children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. The children reportedly heard the incident and later discovered their mother dead. Ruesga consequently faces four counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child in addition to the first-degree murder charge.
Court records reportedly show that Ruesga previously faced a case involving the destruction of property belonging to a victim with whom he lived. That case stemmed from an incident in June 2025. Records indicate that Ruesga received a plea in abeyance and was sentenced to six months of probation, along with an anger-management evaluation and counseling.
Ruesga was reportedly a licensed real estate agent and had served as an ambassador for the Tooele Chamber of Commerce. The allegations surrounding the fatal shooting have drawn attention to both the current case and his previous court proceedings.
The investigation into Bahena’s death remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events. Ruesga is facing serious criminal charges, but the allegations against him have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted.
