Timothy Edwards Obituary, LONDON, Ky. — Timothy Edwards, 69, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky, has died following a multi-vehicle crash on East 4th Street in London on Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2026. According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 1:42 p.m.
Laurel County Sheriff John Root said Sheriff’s Office accident reconstructionist and Detective Brad Mink is assisting London City Police with the investigation into the fatal collision. Investigators reported that a Dodge pickup truck driven by 48-year-old Michael Williams of London was traveling westbound on East 4th Street and had stopped while waiting to make a left turn.
A Ford F-250 pulling a trailer was traveling westbound behind the Dodge pickup when it was unable to stop. Investigators said the Ford crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane in an apparent attempt to avoid striking the Dodge. The Ford then collided head-on with the Chrysler sedan driven by Edwards, while the trailer subsequently struck the Dodge pickup.
Edwards suffered serious injuries in the collision and was airlifted to UK Medical Center in Lexington for treatment. He was later pronounced dead by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. His death has left family members and others connected to the East Bernstadt and London communities mourning his passing.
A passenger in Edwards’ Chrysler, 67-year-old Susan Edwards of East Bernstadt, suffered critical injuries and was also airlifted to UK Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Ford, 31-year-old Travis Gaskin of London, was transported by private vehicle to Saint Joseph Hospital London for treatment of possible injuries. Williams, the driver of the Dodge pickup, was not injured.
Several emergency agencies responded to the scene, including London City Fire and Rescue, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, PHI Helicopter and Air Evac Helicopter. East 4th Street was closed for approximately two hours as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
Detective Gary Jordan, Captain Richard Dalrymple and Detective Sergeant Taylor McDaniel also assisted with the crash investigation. The fatal collision remains under investigation by London City Police and the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, and officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash.
As the investigation continues, the loss of Timothy Edwards is being mourned by those who knew him and by members of the community affected by the tragedy. His memory will remain with those closest to him, and condolences go to his family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
