WHITBY, ON — Durham Regional Police continue to investigate the disappearance of six-year-old Kaylee after identifying Blair Hamilton, a 48-year-old man described as an associate of the child’s father, as a person connected to the ongoing missing person case.
Police said Kaylee was last seen after she was left in Hamilton’s care on Saturday evening at a McDonald’s plaza near Dundas Street East and Thickson Road in Whitby, Ontario. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and locate the missing child.
According to police, Kaylee was captured on surveillance footage at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. She was also reportedly seen later that day somewhere in Peel Region as officers continued their search for information.
Authorities said they are extremely concerned for Kaylee’s safety due to her age and the circumstances of the investigation. Police have been following leads in both Durham Region and Peel Region while using available resources, including air support and drones.
Investigators said police were not notified about Kaylee’s disappearance until Monday evening after receiving information from her grandfather and a concerned third party. Police have also been seeking information from Kaylee’s mother, Nicole Thompson, but said they have been unable to make contact with her.
During a press conference, Sgt. Nicholas Gluckstein said investigators have spoken with Kaylee’s father but stated that he has not been cooperating with the investigation. Police said the lack of information has made the search more challenging.
Police said the case remains an active missing person investigation and has not reached the legal threshold for an Amber Alert. Authorities said they continue to assess new information as the investigation progresses.
Blair Hamilton is described as a 48-year-old white male, approximately 5-foot-10 with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a red sweater under a black coat, brown shoes with white soles, a brown checkered ball cap, and carrying a grey backpack. Kaylee is described as a white female with a slim build, approximately four feet tall, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple jacket with a fur-lined hood, pink pants, and black, white, and red shoes.
Anyone with information about Kaylee’s whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance is urged to contact Durham Regional Police Service at 905-579-1520. Authorities continue to ask the public to provide any information that may assist in locating the missing child.
