Diego Sanchez-Marin Obituary: Caldwell, Idaho – 21-Year-Old Dies in Fatal Shooting on South Kimball Avenue

Diego Sanchez-Marin Obituary, CALDWELL, Idaho — Diego Sanchez-Marin, 21, has died following a fatal shooting Wednesday night in the 1600 block of South Kimball Avenue in Caldwell, Idaho. His death has left his family, friends and loved ones grieving the loss of a young life.

Caldwell Police announced Thursday, September 24, that a 15-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with Sanchez-Marin’s death. The teenager was taken into custody after detectives conducted an overnight investigation into the shooting.

According to police, investigators worked through the night to identify witnesses, follow leads and locate a vehicle believed to be connected to the homicide. Detectives used the department’s automated license plate reader system to identify the vehicle and subsequently identify the juvenile suspect.

With assistance from the Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators obtained an arrest warrant. At approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday, the suspect was located with assistance from the Metro Violent Crime Task Force, U.S. Marshals, Idaho State Police, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and Canyon County Probation and Parole.

Police said the 15-year-old was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Southwest Idaho Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of murder. Because of the suspect’s age, authorities have not released his name.

The homicide investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence. Police said additional charges or arrests could follow as the investigation continues. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Sanchez-Marin’s death has brought grief to those who knew and loved him, as his family and friends face the loss of a 21-year-old whose life was cut short.
