Matthew Bennett Obituary, WINDSOR, Conn. — Matthew Bennett, 44, of Enfield, Connecticut, has died after suffering serious injuries in a crash on Interstate 91 South in Windsor Thursday evening.
According to Connecticut State Police, Bennett was driving southbound on I-91 near Exit 36 when his vehicle collided with another car. The circumstances that caused the two vehicles to collide remain under investigation.
Following the initial collision, Bennett’s vehicle struck a metal guardrail and rolled across the highway before coming to rest on the left shoulder of I-91 South. The crash left Bennett with serious injuries.
Bennett was transported to Hartford Hospital for medical treatment following the collision. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to the information released about the incident.
State police said Bennett was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
Connecticut State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, including what led to the two vehicles making contact. Authorities had not immediately released additional information about potential citations or charges.
